They kept on with their madness and their peculiar rituals, oblivious to the thing's presence, even as it marched right through their number on its slow, staggering way towards the back of the McDonalds beyond the intersection. The thing moved with a patient purpose, a slow but steady waddle, a lurching 'putter' as it propelled itself on swollen ankles and mangled feet towards the drive-through window where it stopped and backed away, teetering on its heels.
